FF1 and Patreon details

First, and most importantly, my mission abroad to look at old-timey porn was a modest success, and I took some pictures that I will post here to show how committed I am to honing lewdcraft. I was almost trampled and smooshed twice by Chinese tourists getting these, so you’re welcome. Turns out I’m the smallest adult around pretty much anywhere in the world.

Now, the little things: we’re in the home stretch on FF1. When ‘The End’ pops up, there will still be a sort of epilogue, and then of course the door will be open to more epilogue content, sequels, commissions, whatever—but FF1 will no longer be the main daily. I’m guessing that AU/what if? FF1 lewd shorts will pop up occasionally on Patreon.

I’ll open up Patreon soon, and it will have 3 exclusive things on it day one, with a lot more planned. There is a painfully detailed blog post about exactly what I have in mind with the updates and tiers, which I’ll probably just paste below. But don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have them. I’m sure I’m overthinking it, but I still get weirdly anxious about these things and overexplain, like I am now. Expect a little roughness right out of the gate as I get the hang of Twine and a feel for what’s working and what isn’t. 

Reminder that RE9 comes out later this month, and for anywhere from a few days to a week, VFU operations may be disrupted as I rush to beat it. Commissions just slowed down for my trip, and now they’re going to slow down again as I work on an RE9 fic. The good news is that the RE9 fic will go straight to AO3 independent of our CHYOA dailies, so you could think of it as ‘extra’ content. I see no reason to be mysterious or tease about this: BAE/ORACLE will end eventually*, and Resident Evil will be taking the Saturday slot as the new IP+futa story. If you’re familiar with RE, you’re probably going to like what we do. If you’re new to RE, you’re in luck—because we’ll be starting from the beginning and going in order**. It’s a futa-themed adaptation of at least most of the mainline games with lots of VFU characters sprinkled in among the RE hotties. It’s utterly bonkers and huge in scale, with an overall light and zany tone. Special thanks to the reader who kicked it off by commissioning a big and detailed RE story a while back.

*even if nobody commissions more, I’d be surprised if we don’t revisit it someday.

Now the aforementioned messy and detailed Patreon post:

I have 2 tiers set up for now. One for 5.69 and another for 9.69. The simple version is that the 5.69 tier gets all the content and some votes relating to content. The 9.69 version gets all that stuff and some more votes, but it’s mostly just an option for anyone who’s super nice and has the luxury of being able to go a little higher. I assume that’ll be like one reader, and that reader will wield godlike power over those special polls. I’ll give examples of what those might be like below. The main thing is that even at the first tier, you get all the stuff. All the PDFs, all the Twine stories. The votes for the upper tier are (I think) cool, but by no means essential. 

What kind of stuff we’re doing:

On day 1, there will be a slightly improved Twine version of House Semya Part 1 (Stepmom Edition) with some new content, a PDF of Alice Unchained, and a PDF of Adella Salazar: Raiders of the Lost Futa. Alice Unchained is a peek at what a less monogamous and more assertive Alice might have looked like, and Raiders is a light remaster of an FSC route that is very important for lore reasons that will become apparent after FF1 ends.

Some of the things you can expect to follow, in no particular order:

1.      THRILL OF THE HUNT, improved and added in full to HOUSE SEMYA while it’s still running on CHYOA. HS Part 3 is also planned, and it’ll be on Patreon, in its entirety, first.

2.      When FF1 ends, the new story will begin, and that Twine game will be on Patreon with expanded content while the main thread runs on CHYOA. This is expected to be the main “product” once it gets going, and it will need its own blog post to fully explain.

3.      There will be more remasters and/or short stories, as well as votes to figure out what you want to see in that bonus content.

4.      A (humble) yaoi Twine story set in the HS world and with familiar HS characters is planned.

5.      FUTA SOCCER CAMP REMAKE is a big interactive novel with like 5 or 6 endings. It will get posted on Patreon long before it ends up on itch. It’s not quite ready yet, but it’s completely written, so it’s definitely happening. It’s likely that more content will be added to it over time for patrons, and it already has one Patreon exclusive update underway.

6. Something to emphasize is that I see any Twine story as a base to be added to. New scenes, new routes, etc. That's HS, FSCR, HGS, and the yaoi Twine story at a minimum. As I get a feel for what is most popular, we'll shift the attention toward that stuff so that more popular things get more frequent updates. 

Polls and tiers:

We figure this out as we go, but here’s an example of how something might play out: say the current SSS (Undercover) ends, and it’s time for a new one. I’m not ready to do the big Scream one yet, so we need another simple movie adaptation in the meantime. I ask all the SSS readers who participated in the story to name genres they might find interesting. Say they list: “Erotic Thriller, Buddy Cop, and Body Swap Comedy” Then, on Patreon, there’s a poll with those genres available to all Patrons. “Buddy Cop” gets picked. I do a little research or draw on my knowledge and pick out 2 titles, like Hot Fuzz and Lethal Weapon. Then the upper tier on Patreon makes the final choice between those two. And if there’s just one reader at that tier, they have the power. Other examples of “big” choices that I intend to leave up to that tier are:

I want to do more very specific short/experimental stories in different genres. These would be PDFs because they don’t justify starting new stories on CHYOA or anything; they’re mainly for fun and to see if different things work and warrant more attention. I have a ton of them. So, I would put a choice up there: “Should the next experiment be a Junji-Ito inspired futa spooky story or (other thing)” and then we do what gets chosen.

It's also planned that there will be a yaoi HS project that will start small but grow, and I also fully intend to do an M/F and/or bisexual-themed Gurlberg story with the VFU ladies. But I’m not doing both at once; so that upper tier might decide which of those should happen first.

I don’t know how appealing any of that is to anyone, but I’m just trying to stay organized and reasonable. The main thing is that you’re supporting the daily chapters. What gets the most attention and how frequent the updates are is something we’ll just have to see as we go, but the commission rate is 5usd for 500 words right now, so 5/10 dollars buys 500/1000 words, which is equivalent to 1 or 2 daily chapters. There’s no way, absolutely no way, that Patrons will get less than 5000 words of new content every month, and I’m guessing it’ll be way more than that once less frequent big updates drag the average up, so the value should definitely be there if you enjoy the content.

  Messiness: FF1 is getting toward the Italian Grand Prix. We are entering the final section of the story, but at the rate I’m going, it’s not coming anytime soon. I’ve put a lot of thought, way more thought than is healthy for an e-smut hobby, into what comes next, but since that’s probably a year away, we can worry about that later. For now, FF1 continues as usual. SS: TIE is, in my opinion, going well. The latest in well-reasoned, meticulously planned things that are definitely not tone deaf and impulsive! In addition to taking commissions, I had two projects planned for this summer: FSCR and some kind of trappy crossdressy yaoi thing. To fully understand what has happened, we must go back 3000 years to when I first started taking commissions. House Semya

There’s a lot to unpack here. My last blog post talked about why we went with family values as the theme for House Semya, now let’s talk about the rest. I had three mostly separate challenges with this story: how go about telling a fantasy story and how to do a family story and have them at least mostly succeed at being kind of sexy. On fantasy, I thought about my own experiences reading fantasy novels and things I’ve read about other people reading them. I looked at some of the eroticism in things like Game of Thrones, and observed how even old-timey fantasy was massively horny. I concluded that from my perspective, the most attractive fantasy smut wasn’t smut at all. It was “legit” storytelling that happened to include a larger amount of horniness.
