Christmas! Panic!!


I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Just a couple small things because there’ll be a bigger blog post after the new year to talk about some of the big dumb things that I have planned.

First, ARR will end soon because I believe it’s around 60 chapters long. I hope it’s gratifying for the reader who commissioned it that it’s (as usual) way more popular than my normal stories. I have a number of commissions and stories in reserve that can take its place, but I’m honestly unsure about what the best thing to do is. One of the cool things about ARR was that it was long and ongoing, so it was almost like having two ‘main’ stories. I have some other pretty long ones. I don’t know. Bottom line, expect the unexpected until we get things figured out.

The Christmas story this year is 11 chapters long, so if my calculations are correct, we start on 12/13 so that it ends on 12/24. I figure everyone will be busy Xmas day (me included), but I’ll still try to post a normal daily. The Christmas story will replace everything except House Semya because the HS pacing is painfully slow enough as it is. On the subject of HS, first let me formally acknowledge the aforementioned pacing issue. The good news is that I have given that some thought, and I think I have a solution to it that we’ll get into later. The bad news is that to give me a fighting chance of realizing some of dumb ideas I’m having, I’m introducing some austerity measures, which include cutting some interactive stuff from HS for now.

With only 2 weeks before the Xmas content starts, we’ll just take it easy and stay on autopilot. ARR will go until it’s finished and FF1 will resume. SS: TIE is done. SBAT has 2 more chapters including 11/30, so it will end in December as well. That’s kind of neat; both the new SSS and the final season of BAE will start after the new year. Commissions continue under wartime conditions for the time being. I don’t have plans to raise prices, but I am being more selective about what I offer the super clearance rate (3usd/500words) on, so that may amount to a price hike on some projects. No changes to any commitments I’ve already made.

Anyway, December is going to fly by. After the new year I’ll do a big blog post to be transparent and give everyone an opportunity to point out any mind-blowing stupidity in my plan that I may have missed—but little things like me actually learning some things about Ko-fi and some changes that they made to itch.io have made me do some thinking and scheming. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. I never should have been allowed to vote, think, drive, or post on the internet.

  Messiness: FF1 is getting toward the Italian Grand Prix. We are entering the final section of the story, but at the rate I’m going, it’s not coming anytime soon. I’ve put a lot of thought, way more thought than is healthy for an e-smut hobby, into what comes next, but since that’s probably a year away, we can worry about that later. For now, FF1 continues as usual. SS: TIE is, in my opinion, going well. House Semya

There’s a lot to unpack here. My last blog post talked about why we went with family values as the theme for House Semya, now let’s talk about the rest. I had three mostly separate challenges with this story: how go about telling a fantasy story and how to do a family story and have them at least mostly succeed at being kind of sexy. On fantasy, I thought about my own experiences reading fantasy novels and things I’ve read about other people reading them. I looked at some of the eroticism in things like Game of Thrones, and observed how even old-timey fantasy was massively horny. I concluded that from my perspective, the most attractive fantasy smut wasn’t smut at all. It was “legit” storytelling that happened to include a larger amount of horniness. I decided to risk going a little bit more plot and exposition heavy and to try to get some characterization in there instead of just throwing us into massive orgies. The latest in well-reasoned, meticulously planned things that are definitely not tone deaf and impulsive! In addition to taking commissions, I had two projects planned for this summer: FSCR and some kind of trappy crossdressy yaoi thing. To fully understand what has happened, we must go back 3000 years to when I first started taking commissions.
